Lady Gaga featured 'barefaced' on Harper's Bazaar cover - See photo

Lady Gaga went with a new look for the October cover of Harper's Bazaar, one that seems like a make-under compared to her more recent appearances.

The singer, who is known for her unique style and theatrical shows, appears on the cover of the magazine as well as in the photo shoot images as -- what the magazine calls -- "basically barefaced."
However, Gaga tells the Harper's Bazaar she wouldn't exactly call the look natural. "I don't really view it as 'natural,'" she said. "I think that artifice is the new reality. It's more about just being honest and sincere to the core of what you do. Whether I'm wearing lots of make-up or no make-up, I'm always the same person inside."
"I try to not focus on what people expect from me," She added. "I think what has been lovely about my relationship with the public is that they expect something unexpected from me."
Speaking of unexpected, the singer recently opened the MTV Video Music Awards dressed as her male alter-ego Jo Calderone. Not only did Gaga perform her single "You and I" as Calderone, but she also remained in character for the duration of the show, even presenting an award to Britney Spears as Calderone. Some noticed the pop star's uncanny resemblance to a young Ralph Macchio, including the "Karate Kid" himself.
The last time Gaga appeared on the cover of Harper's Bazaar in May, she was featured with protruding cheek bones. A similar alteration appeared on the cover of her "Born This Way" album and during her performance at the 2011 Grammys.
The singer also dished about her work-out routine saying, "I do yoga, I do Bikram and I run, and I eat really healthy. You know, my work sort of feeds me. I keep in shape by working hard."
She also revealed she recently learned how to surf while vacationing in Mexico in August. "I fell off a lot in the beginning," she said, "but one of the surfers said to me, 'Now that you can stand up, just look into the future and enjoy the ride.' I thought that was an interesting metaphor about life."
Gaga Tweeted a photo of herself surfing on August 18 with a caption that read, "yeah thats me. no heels baby."

LADY GaGa has reportedly embarked on a new relationship – with the hunky star of TV show The Vampire Diaries.

The singer began dating actor Taylor Kinney after they filmed the video to her recent single You And I.
She was spotted sinking her teeth into the 30-year-old at a beachside bar in California this week.
Taylor is best known for his role as a werewolf in the popular series – based on vampire mythology sparked by brutal Romanian ruler Vlad the Impaler.
A source said: "It was just casual at first, but things are getting pretty hot and heavy.
"I couldn't tell it was her at first. It just looked like some hot couple making out, but then I realised it was Lady GaGa!
"Everyone went nuts! She was so sweet too - she even signed some autographs."

GaGa and her new squeeze were also seen walking hand in hand the next day.
Another source said: "Her hair was a little messy. It definitely seemed like a 'morning after' situation. They are obviously totally into each other."
The sightings came a month after GaGa and Taylor romped together in the promo for the track she wrote about ex-boyfriend Luc Carl.

Taylor went topless in the video while GaGa dressed as a mermaid. They later exchanged rings in a wedding ceremony.
GaGa – who split from Luc for the second time earlier this year – has previously revealed she gets emotional when she sings You And I because it brings back memories of their relationship.
She explained: "There is not one song on any of my records that wasn't written by me, and I think when you write your own music you find ways to reinvent the songs emotionally through yourself and performance so that they are different every night and that song you know, sometimes it's about the guys and sometimes it's about the fans."

Chart-topper GaGa and Luc, who manages a bar, began dating in 2005 but split when her career took off.
The pair rekindled their romance in 2010, with GaGa saying they were in a "proper monogamous relationship".
Last year she said: "I've really never loved anyone like I loved him. Or like I love him.

"That relationship really shaped me. I sort of resolved that if you can't have the guy of your dreams, there are other ways to give love."
You And I is taken from her No1 album Born This Way and features Queen guitarist Brian May.

Lady Gaga's new boy toy: Taylor Kinney from 'Vampire Diaries?'

It seems that Lady Gaga has finally found the man she will let beneath her meat dress.
RadarOnline is reporting that the lucky boy is "Vampire Diaries" hottie Taylor Kinney, who just so happens to be the co-star of her new "You and I" video. Sources tell RadarOnline that the couple was seen engaging in a little PDA at The Sneak Joint, a beachside bar in Mission Viejo, CA on Sunday (Sep. 4).
"It just looked like some hot couple making out, but then I realized it was Lady Gaga...she even signed some autographs."
The couple was spotted around Mission Viejo for the next few days holding hands and cavorting in general. We hope Taylor can handle being alone when Gaga needs to retreat to her egg and incubate for days at a time.

Report: Lady GaGa Romancing 'Vampire Diaries' Actor

Rumor has it, things are 'getting pretty hot and heavy' between the 'Born This Way' singer and Taylor Kinney after they met on the set of her music video for 'You and I'.

might have found a new man in her life. According to Radar Online, the singer who found fame with such single as "Poker Face" has been dating "The Vampire Diaries" hunk Taylor Kinney ever since the two met on the set of her music video for "You and I" back in July.

"It was just casual at first, but things are getting pretty hot and heavy," one inside source said. Seemingly providing proof to the insider's claim, a Sneak Joint patron talked about witnessing the rumored pair engaging in a little PDA at the beachside bar in Mission Viejo, CA last Sunday, September 4.

"I couldn't tell it was her at first," confessed the observer when talking about GaGa and Kinney's make-out session at the bar. "It just looked like some hot couple making out, but then I realized it was Lady GaGa! Everyone went nuts! She was so sweet too - she even signed some autographs."

GaGa and Kinney were spotted together again on Monday, September 5. This time around, the two reportedly held hands while taking a stroll along Mission Viejo. "Her hair was a little messy. It definitely seemed like a 'morning after' situation," said a witness. "They are obviously totally into each other!" The day after, they were seen together on the beach.

Lady Gaga Is 'The Biggest,' Tony Bennett Says

'I'll tell you, I never met anyone with more talent than that lady,' legendary crooner tells MTV News.

Lady Gaga isn't afraid to go jazzy, as fans that saw her version of "Yoü and I" in this year's VMA promo know, and now she's kicking it old-school with Tony Bennett on his new album.

In a new 30-second teaser, Gaga and the legendary crooner sing their rendition of the classic "The Lady Is a Tramp," trading sassy vocals over horns and piano.

"I hate California, it's crowded and damp," New York-native Gaga sings, before Bennett chimes in giggling, "That's why the lady is a tramp."

Then, just as the teaser fades out, Gaga speaks up to say, "Sometimes I go to Coney Island!"
MTV News caught up with Bennett backstage at the 2011 VMAs, where he performed as part of the Amy Winehouse tribute, and he told us he's a huge fan of the Lady.

"My favorite is that Lady Gaga," he gushed about the star, who performed that night as her male alter ego Jo Calderone. "She's the biggest. I'll tell you, I never met anyone with more talent than that lady."
But Gaga is just one of the many contemporary artists who appear on Bennett's latest album, Tony Bennett: Duets II, dropping September 20: Winehouse, John Mayer, Carrie Underwood and Mariah Carey, among others, also appear. Asked about why his music has been appealing to a new generation decades after he launched his career, Bennett credited music lovers of all ages.

"It's a funny situation, I'm 85; I just want to tell you it's a very strange situation," Bennett said. "I always worked live, and ever since 1950, wherever I've played internationally I've been sold out all these years," he explained. "It's amazing. So the public's been on my side all the time."
What do you think of Gaga and Tony Bennett collaborating? Tell us in the comments

Lady Gaga releases 1st fashion shoot

LOS ANGELES--Pop star Lady Gaga has teamed up with Dutch fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin to produce five fashion-inspired vignettes for her latest single "You And I."
The first video, entitled "You And I: Nymph," was released on Thursday and featured the singer posing and pirouetting in a series of black-and-white clips shot by the famed fashion photographer duo.
The 2-minute 10-second video was the creative brainchild of Lady Gaga, who partnered with her stylist Nicola Formichetti to deliver a minimalistic performance dressed in a simple dress with neutral makeup, a far cry from her usual elaborate style as seen in her previous videos.
The pop star, who is known for her quirky avant-garde outfits, first collaborated with high fashion photography duo van Lamsweerde and Matadin in May this year for V Magazine's Asian issue.
The photographers have shot campaigns for fashion brands such as Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent, and have had their work featured in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Elle Magazine, among others.
The official video for "You And I," the fourth single from the album "Born This Way," premiered on Aug. 18. Thursday's fashion film release coincides with Lady Gaga's latest column in the October issue of V Magazine, in which she attacks New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn for recent, negative reviews of the singer.
Horyn criticized designer Donatella Versace for praising Lady Gaga's Versace outfits, in her June 17, 2011 "On The Runway" blog, writing "Be choosier, Ms. Versace."
Lady Gaga responded to Horyn in her column, asking "shouldn't columnists and reviewers, such as Cathy Horyn, employ a more modern and forward approach to criticism, one that separates them from the average individual at home on their laptop?"
There was no further announcement from Lady Gaga on when the remaining four videos by van Lamsweerde and Matadin will be released.

Lady Gaga Releases First 'Fashion Film' Version of 'You and I'

Video was directed by fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, with four more clips to come.

Most artists make one big splashy video for their latest single and then move on to the next one. As she's proven over and over again, though — most recently at the VMAs, where she stayed in her Jo Calderonecharacter all night long — Lady Gaga is not most people.

After announcing on Twitter on Thursday that she shot five "fashion films" set to "Yoü and I" with Dutch fashion photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, she unleashed the first clip later that day, "Haus of Ü Featuring Nymph."
In typical Gaga fashion, it is perplexing, mesmerizing and just a bit odd, and nothing like the way-more elaborate, official music video for the rocking ballad. The barely two-minute black-and-white clip has Gaga pulling off a series of balletic twists and turns while wearing a simple slip dress and ballet slippers, her blonde hair loose and waving in the wind or up in a bun. At various points, there appear to be moths or some other kind of insect flying around in the background and lying dead on the ground.
Wearing very little makeup, Gaga stares intently at the camera while dancing in front of a stark white background. At one point she pulls up the dress while writhing on the ground, almost exposing herself. Near the end there is a fleeting moment where she gazes into the camera while holding her hair on her head in what looks like a colorized photo, with blonde applied to her locks, along with blush on her cheeks and a splash of blue on the dress.
Gaga did not announce when the other videos would be posted.

Lady GaGa loses her knickers in raunchy vid

In the latest clip for single You And I, the controversial star arches her back while tugging a silk negligƩe to expose her bare bottom half.
The raunchy display also sees GaGa make a rare appearance with little of her trademark war-paint on.
The singer has toned down her outfits of late but this is an unusual look for the otherwise heavily made-up star.
Yesterday the hard-working songbird stunned fans by revealing she had made additional FIVE videos for her latest single.
She Tweeted: "Have a surprise for LittleMonsters! Didn't just shoot 1 You and I music video. 5 more fashion films to come by @inezandvinoodh."

She then posted this video, adding: "In collaboration with INEZ+VINOODH. The first in a series. Little Monsters, here's "You and I: NYMPH"
Filmed by Dutch fashion photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the first promo — shot in black and white — sees a fresh-faced GaGa elegantly performing ballet moves.

Wearing a pair of pink slip-ons she gracefully swirls around in time to the music.
GaGa gives viewers a glimpse of a snake tattoo on her left thigh and roses on her ribcage while laying on the floor.

The 2.10-minute video also sees the sexy star sliding her hands over her breasts.

Lady Gaga's VMA Performance: Here's What We Know!

Credit: Getty Images
In 2009 Lady Gaga won the VMA for Best New Artist, which she recently spoke to MTV News about being a life-changing moment for her. Here we are a mere two years later -- Lady Gaga has practically taken over the world, and she's about to take over the VMAs! One might think that after a live performance where the artist ended their set in a (fake) bloody death as Gaga did with her 2009 performance of "Paparazzi," the producers of the show might not exactly be racing to invite said performer back. WRONG. It's the VMA, guys! Bring on the blood and guts! (No seriously, my money's on Gaga literally bringing blood and guts on stage.)
Lady Gaga announced that she'll be opening the VMAs this year when she stopped by MTV to premiere her "Yoü And I" video and answer fan questions during "MTV First: Lady Gaga." When asked about what fans can expect at her VMA performance, the ever elusive Mother Monster didn't give us much insight: "It will be a continuation of everything I've been doing." Oh gee, thanks! That means... nothing?
Luckily though, MTV News sat down with Laurieanne Gibson, Gaga's friend and choreographer, to get the inside scoop about Gaga's VMA performance. And Laurieanne had some gems for us! And by gems I mean "something will come down from the ceiling." And that's about it. Come on!
So, to recap, we know that Lady Gaga's opening VMA performance this year is: It will be a continuation of all of her previous performances and something might come down from the ceiling. We're sure she'll fill in the spaces with signature Gaga moves like decapitated unicorns and a naked Muppet chorus or something. Okay. It'll be way better than that. And the wait is killing us.
Watch Lady Gaga open the 2011 MTV VMAs live from Nokia Theatre L.A. in Los Angeles on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV and MTV.com. Catch the live preshow at 8 p.m. ET/PT and cast your votes for Best New Artist up until the show airs!

Lady Gaga And Her #MeatDress: 2010 VMA Twitter Winners

With outrageous moments, surprise performances and meat-clad pop stars, the Video Music Awards undoubtedly leave many Twitterers nursing thumb cramps on Monday morning. As the tweeting community continues to grow exponentially each year, the VMAs drive even more activity and trends. Last year, the second in which we used the VMA Twitter Tracker, there were approximately 2.3 million VMA-related tweets sent during the East and West Coast broadcasts.
Looking back at what people were the big trends were that night provides a pretty accurate picture of the big show's onstage spectacles. On average,Lady Gaga was the subject of 9,200 tweets per minute (which, for Gaga, was probably a barely noticeable bump). Her meat-purse holder, Cher, was also popular that night as the subject of 7,100 tweets per minute. She was followed by Eminem, with 5,000 tweets per minute, and Rihanna, who had 4,700 tweets per minute.

Here are a few other interesting stats from 2010 VMAs trending topics. Maybe they'll give us hints about what people will be talking about during this Sunday's show.
30: Number of VMA-related topics trended from 8-11 p.m. ET. This doesn't even include topics that blew up after the show like meat dress, BornThisWay, and Lady Gaga Wins.
21: Number of these 30 topics that trended for an average of just 20 minutes (including white carpet, Drizzy Drake, #ifbiebermetgaga), a testament to the short attention span window on Twitter.
5: Number of topics that were a celebrity's misspelled name (Nicki Manaj, Chelsey Handler, Justin Beibers). Poor Nicki also trended as Niki Minaj, never as her correct name.
7: Number of trends regarding Lady Gaga, the most of any celeb. Bieber came in second as the subject of five.
5: Number of topics involving celeb fashion, including Varsity Jacket, Garbage Bag Dress, Lady Gaga's Shoes.
120: Number of minutes Jared Leto trended, the longest of any trend that evening. Go, Echelon!
The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. See the list of nominees, revisit last year's highlights and vote for Best New Artist by visitingVMA.MTV.com.

Lady Gaga to spice up The Simpsons

Lady Gaga is to make a guest appearance on The Simpsons - and will share a kiss with Marge.
The Born This Way singer has recorded her voice over for Lisa Goes Gaga, due to air in the US next spring, which sees her visit Springfield after hearing that many of its residents have low self-esteem and try to cheer up Lisa through the power of song.
Outlandish performer Lady Gaga confessed to Entertainment Weekly she found the recording, "a little nerve-wracking."
She added: "I make music, but I don't do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humour.
"That's what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines."
The episode will include plenty of costume changes and a girl-on-girl kiss with wife and mother Marge.
Lady Gaga said: "I play a little bit of a slut. The apple doesn't fall far from my artistic tree."
But the 25-year-old global superstar is very excited about the role.
She said: "I would say this is one of the coolest things I've ever done. My dad's probably going to do 80 backflips when the episode comes out."
Simpsons creator Matt Groening said: "Since the very beginning, I've always wanted to have on the most iconic personalities of our time, and she's it."

Lady Gaga, 'Yoü And I' (Wild Beasts Remix)

The Wild Beast's have had their way with Lady Gaga's "Yoü And I," and their stripped down version is barely recognizable from the original, ripping away the country-esque, seedy bar anthem and sparing only Gaga's vocals and some piano trills.
The Wild Beasts, an indie band from the UK, is known for their falsetto rising about sparse beats (check out "We Still Got the Taste Dancin' on Our Tongues" here), and it's clear they've left their trademark on Gaga's track. It's a welcome one, as this was in track in desperate need of some toning down, if you ever wanted to listen to it more than once, at least.
For the record, this is an official remix, as we deduced from the fact that it was posted to Lady Gaga's official YouTube account.

Lady Gaga confirmed to open MTV VMAs

Lady Gaga will open the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
The 25-year-old singer announced she will kick off the show at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre on August 28 by getting a group of sequined fans to unfurl a banner reading 'Gaga to open VMAs!!' outside the MTV studios in New York's Times Square yesterday (18.08.11).
Gaga then premiered the video for her new single 'You and I' in the busy central square, which sees her hanging out with her crew, drinking and dancing, with the clips mixed with her performing a slowed-down version of 'You and I' while topless.
Explaining the ideas behind the clip, she told MTV News: 'I really wanted it to be real, and I knew that MTV wanted it to be a true documentation of my life, and as someone that lives halfway between reality and fantasy, so do all my friends.
'So I felt it would be an injustice to not sort of honour them in this short film that we did.'
'I brought my friends here, and we did a jazz rendition of 'You and I,' and we sort of just hung out together. And played around and did what we usually do, which is be creative with one another and talk about music and art and fashion and fk around.'
As well as opening the show, Gaga - who wore her infamous meat dress to the ceremony last year - is expected to join a number of artists in a musical tribute to Britney Spears.

Lady Gaga Explains Mermaid Sex In 'You And I' Video

Lady Gaga had many of us baffled after she unveiled the video to her latest single 'You and I' earlier this week! But fear not the singer has explained to fans what he hell is going on.

In the video, which you can see below, sees Gaga reprises her role as Jo Calderone, a male alter ego and also she is seen dressed as a mermaid.

Speaking to fans at a special unveiling of the new video in New York, she said: "I wrote the song about this guy that I used to date,"

"But the song is about going back to anyone or anything in your life that means something to you. Nebraska [the video's location] is the center of it all. For me, it was all about capturing the true spirit of song, which is when you're in love, you'll be willing to walk and do the craziest and most inconvenient things you can possibly imagine. The video is quite complex in the way that the story is told, and it's meant to be slightly linear and slightly twisted and confusing, which is the way that love is.

One fan asked "How do you have sex with a mermaid?"

Gaga replied: "Well, that's actually part of what the metaphor is — you can't," Gaga answered with a slight smile. "Sometimes in love, you can't make it work. No matter what you do, there's this giant boundary between you and someone else. So that's what it's about, perceiving in your imagination that there's something magical inside of you that you can make it work."

Lady Gaga : "You And I" Cover In Drag (PHOTO)

Lady Gaga, is that you?
The ubiquitous popstar is known for her wildly diverse and, ahem, unique wardrobe, but behind all the fishnets and religious iconography and houndstooth, there is the unmistakable face of Gaga shining through. That may all change on the cover for her next single, "Yoü and I," which she tweeted on Friday.
Pictured is the model Jo Calderone, who, if you're a major Gaga fan or fashionista, you know is thedrag alter-ego of the Grammy winning popstar, this cigarette-smoking tough with a whole bunch of attitude.
"You will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don't love yourself. #You&ISingleCover," she wrote on Twitter, promising to release the single's music video when she hits her 1000th tweet.
What remains to be seen: whether this is a better disguise than her panda bear costume

Lady Gaga Dresses In Drag On “You And I” Single Cover

Jo Calderone is back!
Lady Gaga‘s androgynous male model alter ego graces the cover art for the pop star’s latest single, “You and I.”
Little Monsters first became familiar with Calderone when he covered and appeared in a spread for Vogue Hommes Japan last year, though it was never revealed whether or not this was Gaga in drag or just some really hot guy who looked a lot like her. Gaga’s stylist, Nicola Formichetti , premiered Calderone’s two covers and posted a brief interview with him in which he detailed his “relationship” with Gaga. “I met her at a shoot Nick Knight was doing. She’s f*ckin beautiful, and funny, and interesting. I was a little nervous for Nick to start shooting. She said, ‘Don’t be baby, you were ‘born this way.’ I took her out after. The rest is private ;)”
“You and I” is the fourth single from Gaga’s new album, Born This Way.

"I'm walking with no luggage, it's just me and my ankles are kind of bleeding a little bit and there's grass stuck in my shoes and I've got this outfit on - it's real New York sort of clothing as it's woolly."
